Pomegranate Juice Improves Fertility
Women’s Health Magazine reported on a new study from the journal Clinical Nutrition. Researchers found that pomegranate juice improved fertility markers in male rats (sperm count and motility). The potent antioxidants found in pomegranates may protect against damage to fatty acids found in sperm. I read some background information on the study over at Pub Med where they noted that “pomegranate fruit is inescapably linked with fertility, birth and eternal life because of its many seeds.” I never considered that before, but I thought it was very cool. Actually, it makes a lot of sense.
If you need a suggestion, POM juice is very good. I like to cut it in half with club soda because it’s very thick and tart. It also makes a good martini! I’ve also noticed that many grocery stores are selling 100% pomegranate juice in the frozen juice section.
