- A study published in the British Journal of Nutrition found that women who added two teaspoons of dried red pepper to their food consumed less calories and fat at their next meal. Try adding some hot sauce to an omelet for breakfast.
- University of South Carolina researchers found that curry spices (curcumin) help reduce inflammation and repair your muscles after heavy exercise.
- University of California at Los Angeles researchers found that curcumin helps remove plaque deposits in your brain. Try shaking some curry spices over rice and beans.
- University of New York at Buffalo scientists found that capsaicin (hot-factor in chiles) triggers the pain receptors in your mouth, causing your brain to release endorphins and improve your mood. Try adding red pepper flakes or diced chile peppers to your favorite salad or soup.
